Frequently Asked

Newton is the first-of-its-kind investor training program for investors who fuel the global innovation ecosystem: VCs, LPs, angels, accelerators, and tech transfer officers worldwide. The Program aims to make the practice of investing in early-stage ventures globally widespread and accessible.

The program is a joint venture between Senderwood Group (LocalGlobe and Latitude) and London Business School. The goal is to improve the venture ecosystem through addressing the human capital training gap. Upskilling the next generation of investors will benefit every organisation through which venture capital flows.

Newton has an explicit mission to make the venture ecosystem more diverse, inclusive, and accessible to the population it serves. Newton cohorts will be representative of the future of venture investors: at least 50% of Newton learners will be from BAME backgrounds.

All backgrounds and professions are welcomed to apply. There are two program formats:  The digital program is aimed at those wishing to get a foothold in the venture capital sector, while the on-campus program is aimed at mid-career professionals to help them ramp up their career.

Newton has an explicit mission to make the venture ecosystem more diverse, inclusive, and accessible to the population it serves. Newton cohorts will be representative of the future of venture investors: at least 50% of Newton learners will be from BAME backgrounds.

Mixing investors with different functions across the venture ecosystem will help bridge knowledge and network gaps: the goal is to improve the end-to-end journey through which venture capital flows. The UK has world-class universities, but a mixed record in terms of commercialising scientific discoveries. It attracts large amounts of venture capital for start-ups, but has a mixed record when it comes to scaling and sustaining success.

There are two program formats: (1) Digital and (2) On-Campus at London Business School.

The Digital Program supports entry, onboarding, and development of early-career venture investors. Participants will learn online through weekly live sessions during weekday evenings (GMT time zone) to fit a working professional’s schedule. The Digital Program will start in April 2021, and lasts for 10 weeks.

The On-campus Program will be based at London Business School, with on-site visits to offices of VCs, LPs, accelerators, research commercialisation offices, and other venture investors. This program is aimed at those who have a minimum of 3 years of experience as an investor or working at an investment firm or technology transfer office. The Program supports current venture investors looking to advance their careers, new GPs investing through their first fund cycle, experienced company operators, and deep subject matter experts. The On-Campus Program will include a module specially designed for those who not only want to be an investor, but also raise and manage their own venture fund.

The Digital Program will start in April 2021. The On-Campus Program at London Business School will start in October 2021.

Prices start from £2,030 for the Digital Program, and £16,000 for the On-campus Program at London Business School, which consists of several modules throughout the year.

Scholarships of up to 100% are available for both programs. Newton invites additional support from funding partners across the VC ecosystem, to ensure that ability to pay is no barrier to entry.

We assess potential over experience. We look for interest and motivation to pursue a long-term career as a venture investor. Those with and without investment experience are welcome to apply for both Digital and On-Campus programs.

Short questions on our application will focus on motivation, grit, and overcoming challenges rather than milestones achieved. We use blind assessment to review applications. Admissions is need-blind: this means once you are accepted to join Newton, you will be invited to apply for scholarships set up explicitly to eliminate ability to pay as a barrier to entry into VC.

Applicants are welcome to apply from anywhere around the world; the majority are expected to be from the UK, EU, Africa and Israel.

The Newton Venture Program opens up our network across VC firms who have helped us design the course. These same firms have keenly expressed their interest in marketing their roles to Newton learners. You will be more than prepared for any VC interview: You will arrive on day 1 of your next VC role better prepared (in your understanding of the fundamentals and the interests of the firm partners) than the average analyst who is already working within a VC firm.

Your Newton peer group will be your lifelong source of learning and career progression. The Newton network will be your entry-point into your next role, your trusted source of dealflow, your first co-investors, your first partners if and when you’re ready to raise your own fund, and much, much more than we can forecast today.
