Financial Support

We don’t want cost to be a barrier to anyone, so if a program fee is unaffordable, we have some ways that you can access financial support.

Employee Sponsorship

Put your learning and training budget to good use!

We’ve found that our learners can often get some or all of their program fees paid for through their employer's learning and development (L&D) budget.

If you want to pay for the program through your L&D budget, we can support with documents to help your employer understand the value proposition.

Even if your employer can’t pay the full amount, you can use some of your L&D budget towards the overall cost.

Scholarships

Apply for a scholarship covering from 25% of the program fee

If cost is a barrier, partial scholarships are available. The level of support is dependent on your level of need and is assessed through a separate application.

As advised by charitable sector experts, we prioritise scholarships for candidates where the program cost poses a significant financial burden to them and / or their dependents. We aim to support as many learners as possible that need financial support, so please carefully consider your need before requesting a scholarship.

Scholarship applications are separate to the program application, so you must complete both!

Scholarship FAQs

Are scholarships available for both programs?

Yes. We offer a limited number of scholarships starting at 25% of the program fee for both our Fundamentals and Fellowship programs.

Does asking for a scholarship influence how my application is reviewed?

No. We run a blind application process, separate from the scholarship process.

Who qualifies for a scholarship?

What information will you request in the scholarship application process?

Newton’s mission is to encourage high-potential early and mid-career investors to join the venture community despite the financial barriers too often blocking the path to opportunity.

As part of the scholarship process, we will ask questions about your background and your current financial situation.

How are scholarship applications reviewed and when will I hear back?

Scholarship applications are reviewed anonymously (names are hidden) to reduce bias. We aim to communicate whether your scholarship application was successful once your place on the program is confirmed. We won't be able to confirm scholarship support until after the closing date for applications.

Am I able to seek financial assistance from my employer?

Yes. We’ve found that our learners can often get some or all of their program fees paid for through their employer's learning and development budget.

Find information for the Fellowship Program here and the Fundamentals Program here.

Your employer can find all the information for Fellowship here and for Fundamentals here.

We would be happy to talk to your employer directly to answer any further questions they may have about the program. You can reach a member of the team at applications@newtonprogram.vc

If I don’t receive a scholarship, what do I do?

The process of matching limited scholarship resources with high demand is always difficult. Unfortunately, we can't guarantee financial assistance to all our learners.

If you're accepted onto the program but don't receive a scholarship, your place on the program is still held for you until the deadline to pay the program fee. If you have an employer, we encourage you to request help via their learning and development budget, if they have one.

I would like to fund some scholarships so others might have the opportunity to learn.

We're thrilled you want to help us further our mission!

Newton invites additional support from funding partners across the VC ecosystem to ensure that inability to pay is not a barrier to entry. You can find out about the Newton Ally Fund here (at the bottom of this web page) or please email finance@newtonprogram.vc to discuss how you can support our learners.

Newton Ally Fund

Venture capital has a diversity problem.

That’s why our mission is to level the playing field for people from typically and structurally overlooked and underestimated backgrounds - ensuring that the next generation of investors represent the world that we live in.

You can help us get there by being an ally. If you or someone in your network wants to sponsor the next generation of Newton learners, here’s how you do it.

What is the Newton Venture Program Ally Fund?

The Newton Ally Fund breaks down the financial barriers that so many from overlooked and underestimated backgrounds come up against. Let's break down those barriers together and give everyone the equal opportunity to thrive.

100% of your sponsorship goes towards the learner.

What are the benefits for you?

  • Be a part of the future of venture capital and connect with the scholar(s) you've supported
  • Be featured in our marketing across our expansive network and multiple channels
  • Know you have given someone the opportunity to make a difference in the venture capital ecosystem.

How much does it cost to cover a program space?

Your sponsorship may help multiple people … such as two 50% scholarships.

Cornerstone VC provided sponsorship for a place on our NVP06 Newton Fundamentals Program Cohort. This was used to fund two 50% scholarships!

Cornerstone has engaged with its scholars to develop a reciprocal relationship, inviting the scholars to experience being inside a VC firm while providing opportunities for the scholars to give back and grow. This is what makes the Newton Ally Fund extra special.
